Grading the Game - North Texas

A - Conference Championship Material
B - Solid Performance
C - Not Quite Ready for the Game
D - Very Disappointing
F - Complete Disaster

Quarterbacks - Corey Robinson didn't put up huge numbers, but didn't get the Trojans beat either. Robinson made a poor decision in the first quarter trying to throw a ball away and was intercepted. The junior would finish 29-for-42 for 274 yards and two touchdowns.

Overall Grade: B-

Running Backs - Troy rushed for 108 yards led by Shawn Southward with 56 on 14 carries. Justin Albert chipped in with 30 yards on five carries. Senior D.J. Taylor was welcomed back after missing the first three games. Taylor carried the ball twice for 14, but also had two receptions for 17 yards.

Overall Grade: B

Wide Receivers - Eight Troy receivers recorded a catch. Chip Reeves and Eric Thomas caught seven passes each. Reeves for 120 yards and a score, Thomas for 36. Jaquon Robinson found the end zone as well. It is a good sign to see balances receptions between Thomas and Reeves.

Overall Grade: B

Offensive Line - Troy lost left tackle Chris Hawkins for the season after suffering an ankle injury. Hawkins joins Zach Johnson on the offensive line injury list. The Trojans allowed two sacks to North Texas, but for a group having to mix and match personnel it was a good performance.

Overall Grade: B

Defensive Line - Troy's defensive line didn't register a sack and have just two on the season. D-Line coach Randy Butler said North Texas doubled up on Troy's tackles for most of the game. The run-first North Texas offense finished with 186 yards on the ground.

Overall Grade: B-

Linebackers - Kanorris Davis didn't play, but DeVon Terry stepped up in his absence registering nine tackles.

Overall Grade: B

Defensive Backs - Troy came into this game a little thin in the secondary and will be again versus South Alabama. Safety Chris Pickett and corner T.J. Bryant were suspended for two games prior to the trip to Denton. Brynden Trawick earned Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his 15-tackle performance. There was a break down on North Texas' only score, but overall this unit kept the Mean Green passing attack in check.

Overall Grade: B

Special Teams - Will Scott missed on his only field goal chance, a 50-yard attempt in the third quarter. Scott was 2-for-2 on extra points and averaged 41.7 yards on his nine punts in being named Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week.

Overall Grade: B

Team Performance - Troy probably feels it could have done more offensively, but in the end they won the game. It was a big conference road win after the team finished 0-4 last season on the road against league teams.

Overall Grade: B
