Troy looks to get back to its winning ways in conference play. North Texas gave Kansas State all it could handle last week.
Troy ranks 14th in the NCAA in total offense and 8th in passing. North Texas' defense is 81st in points allowed. If the Trojans can limit turnovers, the offensive unit could be in for another big game.
Players to Watch:
Troy: RB Shawn Southward - Troy will look to establish a runnning game early. North Texas is a ball-control team so it will be vital for Troy's offense to stay on the field and allow the defense to catch its breath.
North Texas: QB Derek Thompson - Last season, Thompson was 31-for-38 against Troy and played a huge role in running 7:28 off the clock in the fourth quarter to preserve the Mean Green victory.
Troy has scored at least 33 points in five straight games against UNT averaging 42.8 points per game in that span.
Senior running back Shawn Southward is closing in on Troy's career rushing touchdown record. With five in his back pocket already this season, Southward is now just six shy of tying Troy's all-time mark of 34.
